Realising the pitchit.co.za also offers numerous resources in the form of a monthly newsletter, interviews and workshops with accomplished filmmakers and a forum and a blogging community within the site to encourage filmmakers to lift up their art and post amazing pitches.

Recognising the inequalities that exist within the industry, pitchit.co.za also offers resources to assist filmmakers perfect their art of pitching and scriptwriting. What is a pitch?
A pitch is the act of presenting a proposal to a producer, investor, manager, distributor, agent, star, director or broadcaster either in person or in a document.

What constitutes a good pitch?
Regardless of Genre, a good pitch pitched to a sensible person must “grab attention, hold interest and pay it off by moving him (or her) to a meaningful, emotional experience.” Robert Mckee.

How can I copyright my idea?
Legally, you can not protect an idea. However, if you are seeking development for your idea or concept please state clearly. To get the most out of this service it is advisable that you pitch an already completed script, television concept or finished projects.

How can I register my script?
You can protect scripts by copyright by registering them with your local Companies and Intellectual Property Registration Office.

How do I subscribe?
Signup and become an annual or monthly subscriber.

How do I pay for pitchit.co.za?
Payment is really easy and very safe. You can pay online via your credit card or we can debit your account. We accept all major credit cards.

What happens after I post my project on pitchit.co.za?
pitchit.co.za is actively driving broadcasters, producers, directors, investors, actors, managers, distributors, and agents through various advertising to the website. The moment you post your project onto the website, it is out there 24/7 for anyone in the world to see. A producer, manager, agent, actor, investor, director or broadcaster interested in your project will contact you directly. It is important that you post your contact details and keep them up to date.

What obligations do I have to pitchit.co.za if my TV or movie content is optioned, licensed or commissioned through this service?
None. If a producer, investor, manager, director, actor, agent or broadcaster is interested in your project and would like to produce or represent you – you have absolutely no obligations to pitchit.co.za. We would appreciate a mention obviously but there are no obligations whatsoever. We are only happy to further your dream.

Do I need an Attorney, Agent or Manager if a producer or broadcaster wants to option, licence or commission my project?
It is always a good idea to have a professional on your side, but clearly not a requirement. If you would like us to refer someone please email us at info@pitchit.co.za.

What is an option agreement?
An option agreement is a legally binding contract between a writer and producer that grants a producer exclusive rights while he/she tries to make the writer’s movie or TV project. What is a licence agreement?
A licence agreement is a legally binding contract between a producer and a broadcaster that grants a broadcaster exclusive screening rights. The rights granted are varied.
